  • Teaching Philosophy: The learning occurs in my course as interactive lectures, lab sessions, and small-group presentation assignments. I engage the students registering my course through outcome based education model. I  use Computer Assisted Learning (CAL) in the laboratory sessions with the help of two soft-wares to rejuvenate the knowledge they acquired in the theory. The CAL sessions lead to deeper, more durable learning and students can learn according to their individual pace. The assessment used in my lectures are outcome based and confirms the students leave the course only after achieving the needed competencies. I get students feedback throughout the course and implement changes in my course delivery whenever necessary. My ultimate goal is to make my students lifelong learners. I work to create my students as individuals who can understand the subject in scientific and ethical perspective and improve as health care professionals. Academic rigor blended with flexible learning environment using innovative tools and techniques are the pillars of my teaching philosophy.

    Qualification:

         B. Pharm (The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai);

         M. Pharm in Pharmacology (The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai);

         PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Jadavpur University, Kolkata)

    Area of Specialization: Pharmacology

    Research interest: Experimental chemical carcinogenesis, Inflammatory cascade, Preclinical evaluation of potential drug candidates for hepatoprotective and normoglycemic activities, and applied research on anti-doping activity.

    Testing potential drug candidates for their ability to inhibit cellular proliferation, augment apoptosis and express p53 gene is a clear pre-clinical evidence for their anti-neoplastic potential. My research interest focuses on this three dimensional evaluation of newer molecules against a defined model of experimental chemical carcinogenesis. Further investigation of inflammatory cascades in which various biochemical events promulgate and develop into disease state invokes a sense of inquiry in me. The models of drug-induced hepatic injury and alloxan-induced hyperglycemia are my complementary research activities on necessity basis. My passion for sports and academic specialization has opened an entirely newer avenue to explore my chances in the applied research on anti-doping activities ranging from on field evaluation of athletes to genetic aspects of doping.
