The University of Nizwa participated in the event of the 8th Oman Collegiate Programming Contest.

The University of Nizwa, CAS/DMPS/Computer Science three (3) teams participated in the event of “The 8th Oman Collegiate Programming Contest (OCPC2021),” which had taken place in Sultan Qaboos University on Saturday 5-6/November/2021.  The contest was the official National contest that runs under the supervision of the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC); the oldest and most prestigious programming contest in the World since 1977. 

OCPC qualifies 4 teams to The Arab & Africa Collegiate Programming Championship (ACPC), which will take place in Egypt during the first week of December/2021.The International Collegiate Programming Contest is an algorithmic programming contest for college students. Teams of three, representing their university, work to solve the most real-world problems, fostering collaboration, creativity, innovation, and the ability to perform under pressure.

It is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious programming contest in the world. The contest has raised aspirations and performance of generations of the world’s problem solvers in the computing sciences and engineering.

More information about the contest, its organizational structure, goals, and objectives can be found on the ICPC official website https://icpc.global/ UoN students acknowledged that the programming contest participation gave them a great experience because it helps to learn many things from this competition: such as how to deal with real-life problems, find solutions for those problems using algorithms,  and compete with other colleges, etc.
