Open Day 2022

Cultural week Celebration at University of Nizwa

The College of Economics, Management and Information Systems (CEMIS), University of Nizwa, organized its 11th Annual Open Day on March 24, 2022 at Al Shahba Auditorium of the University. While Dr. Saleh Al Azri, Dean of Student Affairs, University of Nizwa, presided over the inaugural session on as the Chief Guest. Dr. Saleh appreciated the efforts of the students and faculty members of CEMIS and highlighted the University’s achievements and the applauded its efforts towards establishing a quality teaching and learning environment in the campus.

Dr. Arockiasamy Soosaimanickam, the Dean of CEMIS and the Chair for Open Day, in his welcome address described the event as a unique opportunity for the students to exhibit their talent through their participation in various extracurricular activities. He has also presented a detailed overview of the activities carried out during two- day event.

During the Open Day 2022, CEMIS released the 5th issue of its news magazine, ‘Voice of CEMIS’. During this open-day about 26 business plan posters and an equal number of Graduation Project posters were presented by the students. The student group from different Departments of the College presented their activities which were evaluated by the panel of judges comprising members from the industry, academia and the administration. The Economics Group was adjudged as Champions for 2022. A quiz competition was also organized on the occasion and hosted by our student under the supervision of Mrs. Anju and team.

The valedictory session was presided over by Dr. Arockiasamy Soosaimanickam, Dean, CEMIS, University of Nizwa. He distributed the prizes, gifts and mementos among the winners of all events conducted during two-day long activities. Dr. Mustafa Malik, Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Co-chair for Open Day,delivered the vote of thanks.

Open Day 2021 (conducted virtually)

Cultural week Celebration at University of Nizwa

CEMIS has been conducting Open Day since 2011 and our student groups actively participates in all our events with full interest. Due to pandemic, we could not do some live events such as displaying best business plan posters and best graduation project posters etc. during this year. However, our faculty members have been conducting various competitions for our students, such as IT programming contest, Best graduation project, Salad dressing competition, some accounting competition etc. All these students who have participated in various events organized by our college and also by outside institutions were recognized and will be awarded with appreciation certificates. As you all know, a very significant activity of the college during the open day is to release our in-house news magazine ‘Voce of CEMIS’, which will be released today by our Chief Guest, Respected Vice Chancellor Prof. Abdulaziz Al Kindi.

This news magazine has all our important achievements and some outstanding contributions (Journal publications, book publications) by our students and faculty members during the AY 2019-20 and 2020-21. Also incorporated are the important information such as Virtual International Seminars, Oman GEM Research report launch, Virtual MoU ceremony conducted in collaboration with UTP Malaysia, etc. also other important activities such as seminars and workshops organized by the students’ groups and college have briefed in the magazine.

For this very important event, Open day 2021, we have extended our invitation to Prof. Abdulaziz Al Kindi, VCAA to be the Chief Guest and also to release our news magazine VoC. Since he is always our guiding spirit and well-wisher, and supporter of all our good activities of the college, he accepted our invitation to be the chief guest and to do the honors. On behalf of CEMIS, I extend my very warm welcome to Prof. Abdulaziz Al kindi to this Open day 2021.

Cultural week Celebration at University of Nizwa

The College of Economics, Management and Information Systems (CEMIS), University of Nizwa, organized its 8th Annual Open Day on March 19 and March 20, 2019 at Al Shahba Auditorium of the University. While Prof. Ahmed Al Harrasi, the Vice Chancellor for Graduate Studies and Research, presided over the inaugural session on March 19 as the Chief Guest, Prof. Abdulaaziz Al Kindi, Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs, presided over the inaugural function as the Chief Guest on March 20, 2019. Prof. Abdulaaziz Al Kindi in his inaugural address to the faculty and students highlighted the University’s achievements and the applauded its efforts towards establishing a quality teaching and learning environment in the campus. He noted that these efforts will see further enhancement through the newly built world-class smart campus for the University. Prof. Ahmed Al Harrasi during his inaugural address applauded the students’ participation in various activities especially in Business Plan and Graduation Project poster competitions. While underlining the students’ potential, he emphasized on the faculty to direct the student ideas towards emerging field of national priority and promised that his office will provide all possible help in polishing and supporting students’ research ideas.

The student group from different Departments of the College presented their activities which were evaluated by the panel of judges comprising members from the industry, academia and the administration.  The Economics Group was adjudged as Champions for 2019. A quiz competition was also organized on the occasion. An Alumni talk was delivered by one of the prominent CEMIS alumni, Ms. Amal Al Maqrishi on the very interesting topic “How to build a better career”.

The valedictory session was presided over by Dr. Saleh Al Azri, the Dean of Student Affairs, University of Nizwa. He distributed the prizes, gifts and mementos among the winners of all events conducted during two-day long activities. Mr. Munassir Hussain, Faculty of Management, delivered the vote of thanks.
