Nursing leadership and management, Organizational health, Workplace safety and patient safety, Health promoting behaviors, Nursing education

Brief description of research interests:

Nursing Leadership and Management. Leadership is one of the most important challenges faced by nursing and healthcare managers. I am interested on the relationships and interactions that take place between nurse leaders and employees, exploring how these leadership dynamics can be improved in organizations.

Organizational Health. Nursing literature shows there is positive impact of a healthy work environment on staff satisfaction, retention and performance. I am interested in nurse manager’s development of their leadership skills needed to support the development of healthy work places.

Workplace Safety and Patient Safety. In nursing, there has been an emphasis on providing safe nursing care to ensure patient safety. I am interested on the critical issue of nurse safety linked with the promotion of safe patient care. The integration of quality and safety competencies into nursing education is also interesting.

Health Promotion Behaviors. Health promoting behavior is important, particularly with regard to maintaining functional independence and improving quality of life (QoL). I am interested in exploring the relationship between health promotion behaviors and quality of life.

Nursing Education. I am interested in doing research that makes an impact on nursing educators and students and on linking nursing education and practice.

 Research interests:

Maternal and child health nursing, Nursing Education

Brief description of research expertise and research interests:

My interest to conduct research focused on Maternal and child nursing is anchored on the WHO’s millennium developmental goals to reduce maternal and child morbidity and mortality. This may help in identifying daily practices that may contribute to illnesses and diseases. In knowing such, health programs can be planned and implemented to improve over-all health and well-being of mothers and children. On the other hand, conducting a research on nursing education may look into the common difficulties faced by students and teachers in both teaching and learning process.

 Research interests:

Qualitative research, Adult Health and Epidemiology

Brief description of research expertise and research interests:

My enrolment in the Doctorate program cultivated my interest in conducting qualitative researches. One of my requirements in the PhD program which is a qualitative study was published in an online journal. Although the process of qualitative research seems to be tedious and complex, exploring more on the uniqueness of one’s experience over a given phenomenon is fulfilling. However, the possible drawback of conducting qualitative research here in Oman is the language barrier which might hinder or influence the identification of specific themes to enrich the meaning of these experiences.

Clinical Teaching Methodologies, Quality Patient Care, Maternal and Child Health Nursing

Brief description of research expertise and research interests:

As a clinical instructor, I have seen variation of clinical teaching methodologies that are employed in the clinical area. However, underscoring which of these teaching methodologies are really effective- putting into consideration the factors that may impact learning- is fundamental in improving my personal approach to clinical teaching. Being up-to-date on what are the current developments and trends on teaching strategies enable me to teach my students effectively. In addition to this interest, there are many factors affecting the delivery of quality patient care. Identifying and addressing these factors liberate the nursing profession from these loopholes. Maternal and Child Health Nursing deserves attention because they are the vulnerable group of the population

Student learning, Quality Patient Care, Transcultural Nursing, Current Trends in Nursing, Nursing Education

Brief description of research expertise and research interests:

I am very much interested in conducting research studies that deal with current trends in nursing likewise in nursing education. As a nurse educator, we should be updated with the current trends so as to teach students with the latest updates in nursing, which enables them to deliver a more efficient and timely nursing care at the bedside. Likewise, quality patient care is also one of my interests in research since our main focus as a nurse and nurse educator is the patient himself, therefore we have to research ways on how to provide quality patient care to our client.

Holistic Approach to Patient Care, Effective Teaching and Learning, Community Health Nursing

Brief description of research expertise and research interests:

Having been in the academe for almost 15 years, I have dealt with different challenges in Teaching and Learning. It made me more creative in terms of the teaching methodologies used. It should always be appropriate for the learners. Knowing first the characteristics of your learners must be the priority in order for learning to transpire, but with the changes of the types of learners, there should also be an update of what other teaching strategies that could be use, this made me decide to choose this as one of my research interest.I am also bringing students in the clinical area and one of the main objectives is that students should always bear in mind that an effective health care provider should use holistic approach in patient care but then there are some instances that it is not being practice in the clinical area. A research on this matter should be done in order to achieve a quality patient care.

Clinical teaching,Critical Care Nursing

Brief description of research expertise and research interests:

I am interested to do research in clinical teaching and critical care nursing. I did an exploratory study on Basic Life Support among nurses in critical care area for my master’s program that motivated me to do more studies in clinical teaching and critical care nursing. Such studies will help to identify the gaps in nursing care at emergency situation and will help to fill such gaps which will improve the quality of life of patients
