Work Experience:
University of Nizwa – (August 2011 – Present)
· (February 2014) I have promoted as Administrative officer of UoN Chair of Medicinal Plants and Marine Natural Products . In this position I am responsible for the day-to-day general administration works of the Chair, assisting the Chairperson and supporting the group members. Added to that, I have to Undertake general administrative duties including: Dealing with incoming and outgoing mail and general emails, Ordering of equipment, materials and office supplies, Undertake and assist in the recording and processing of invoices, receipts and payments
as required and instructed, Administer the petty cash system and ensure appropriate record keeping, updating the chair's home page, following up all researchers administrative issues, and maintain the central filing system, general database and archive.
· Since date of hiring I have worked as an Administrative Coordinator with the Dean Assistant for Graduate Studies & Scientific Research. In this position I act as a link between various departments at the University by completing a number of clerical functions such preparing meetings and conducting correspondence. I also respond to office inquiries from students and other departments and maintain an archive of memos and other documents relevant to the day-to-day running of our department.
· I also assist the Office of the Dean Assistant for Training by seeking out placement for students in academic and professional training programs. This keeps me in constant contact with a number of public and private organizations.
· Since November 2011 I have worked closely with the University of Nizwa International Office. Here my primary task has been to work with students traveling internationally on various summer programs. I have also needed to plan and schedule meetings, write and revise content for outreach programs, and liaise with national and international visitors coming to the university, including faculty and staff members form other universities and diplomatic delegations. In this position, I have had the opportunity to travel abroad twice, to supervise students participating in a summer program and also I have completed professional development training.
Bank Muscat - Intern (Summer 2010), Firq Industrial State Branch
· During my time as an intern at Bank Muscat I had the opportunity to work in several departments in the Firq Industrial State Branch. These included the Customer Service Department, the Inquiries Department, and the Loans Department. The experience helped me to gain a greater understanding of how to interact with customers and colleagues in an office setting.
International Experience:
· Brunel University, London, UK: 10th June – 17th July
I have completed a training course with International Pathway and Language Center.
A great opportunity to visit the capital of Europe and explore the city, meet people from different nationalities and work with them. My training was at the International office at Brunel University; along with supervising a group of 60 students that got the chance to study at Brunel this summer. Being chaperone of 60 students has enhanced my leadership skills, decision-making, and problem solving.
· University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, Wisconsin, USA: Jun 3 – 7th July 2012
Completed an internship with the office of International Education concentrating on:
- Study Abroad Admission and Application Process.
- Administrative Support Services.
- Students Internship Coordination.
Along with supervising a group of 22 students who have got the chance to study at University of Wisconsin Oshkosh this summer. Being students chaperone taught me to be more responsible of my decisions, and a good planner as well.
Activities:
· 13th – 20th of March 2013- participated on the culture week and students graduation ceremony as organizing committee.
· 24 April 2012 – Assisted in the planning and carrying out of an Earth Day Panel Discussion at the University of Nizwa. The panel was titled, “Growing Up Green” and was sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Muscat, Oman.
· 8th – 10th of April 2012 – Pparticipated on the organizing committee in the Arab Universities Forum. This forum discussed training opportunities for university students.
· Attended a workshop on Shell Career Awareness Program.
· Leader in the Salalah College Business Society.
